BrightLight Support

What does the app do?

BrightLight puts an icon in your menu bar where you toggle maximum brightness ("Max Nits") on your MacBook's built-in Liquid Retina XDR display.

Which computers does it work on?

MacBook Pro 14" and 16" from 2021 onward (mini-LED XDR display), macOS 14 or later. On other Macs the app still launches, but the display lacks the extra brightness headroom, so the menu shows "This display doesn't support extra brightness".

FAQ

The display doesn't get brighter? Check in the menu that your display is supported (the headroom value is shown). External displays are not affected — only the built-in one.

It turns itself off? If "Turn Off After 60 min" is enabled, the boost switches off automatically after an hour to protect the display and battery.

Disclaimer

BrightLight increases brightness beyond Apple's standard limit. Use at your own risk. High brightness increases heat and power consumption and may affect the display over time. The developer accepts no responsibility for any damage.
